240 93 Hood Release Cable replacement 200 1993

It broke at the handle. A pair of small vicegrips worked for about 5 years, but the cable broke again. I can get the hood open by reaching up from under the car up front. The FCP website lists a part for Hood Release Cable models w/o Air Bags. Since mine has air bags, what next? What does a hood release cable have to do w/ an airbag anyways?
Thanks!

I just replace the inner wire with baling/strapping wire. Cheap and plenty at hardware (eg. Home Depot) stores.

As I recall, I called the supplier (Groton??) and explained that I needed the airbag version, that fits to a lever rather than a pull knob, and they got it for me on my '90. It was harder to find than the old style.

Having the same problem with daughter's 1990 245. I think that the knee bolster design changed when air bags were introduced. The pull handle style was changed to accommodate the bolster as well. Wife's 89 245 long round tapered handle, instead of grip style in the 90. Try calling Eeuroparts and/or FCP Groton to shed some light. Good Pluck.
