Why I love my Brick, reason #957 700

Got rear-ended by a Chevy Pick up today while driving my 87 745T, pretty darn hard too. Glove box face broke off, aftermarket radio slid out of dash onto my leg, and the "740 Turbo Intercooler" badge on the tailgate is coming off slighty.

That's it. Not even a scuff on the bumper.
Exchanged info with the other driver just in case, drove 3 more miles to shop to get Mass State Inspection, passed with flying colors.

Check your motor and trans mounts 700

Having been in the same situation, when I got rear ended by a Caprice Taxicab, both motor mounts and the trans mount failed within 7 days most likely due to impact related internal stress.

Note: these were OEM Boge mounts from the pre Scamtech period.

Why I love my Brick, reason #957 700

About a year and a half ago, I got rear ended in my 91 744 by a dodge 4dr sedan of some sort going about 25mph, and me stationary. I got a couple of 1" barely noticeable scuffs on my bumper, while his license plate holder shattered and his stupid fiberglass shell of a bumper cracked. No one was hurt so I let him off the hook and didnt call the cops (which I should have) b/c I figured his repair bill would run hundreds of dollars, while I returned home and washed the marks off of my bumper. Go Volvo!!!

When I drove a Honda, I was afraid of big cars - but now I drive an '87 GLE, and I know that they'll be in worse shape.

It's nice to drive a tank.

Ari

PS - Ever hear that Bill Cosby bit where Fat Albert put a Cessna turbofan in his car?
