follow up on the check engine light. 200 1989

now everyonce in a while my car gets massivly bogged down by just basic driving, and when i drop the clutch, rpms drop to idle and just keep falling.it usually saves itself, but this is scary. aND some days it works just fine! im taking it to the shop today or tommorow, so ill post again when i find out whats wrong with it.

I would try cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve. If these are dirty, you can have all sorts of driveability issues.

Alternative fix: Try the "Italian tune-up". Get out on interstate, put car in second gear (or gear of your choice), and drive at over 5,000 rpms for 10-15 minutes or more. Really does wonders.

and to add something, it seems to not do this if i warm it up for 10 minutes.

Pull the codes from the OBD system-- these stored codes may give you an idea what's wrong. This is something you can do yourself-- see the 700/900FAQ. Post back with the codes and you are likely to get help here.

      Good luck!
