1971 1800E Rear Gear ratio? 1800

What is the normal (factory stock) gear ratio for the rear of a 1971 1800E?

Is it any "better" than the 4.10 gear ratio for the 1968 130? By "better" I mean better mileage at highway speeds with an M41.

is 4.10 a more efficient high-speed ratio than 4.30? 1800

The 1800E was an M41J manual.

Look at it this way ... one of the first thing OEMs did was go to a lower numerical axle ratio ie from 4:10 to 1 to 3:23 to 1 to improve mileage .... drag racers put in highder numerical ratios like 4:56 to 1 for acceleration off the line ..... and we all know that drag racers are OT looking for mileage ... :-)

Sorry, I'm being dense on this. You're saying that the 4:10 is more efficient than the 4:30?

I'd be better off with the 130's stock 4:10 rear end over the 1800E's 4:30 rear end?

In short yes you are better off with what you have for freeway travel.

4.30 means the propeller shaft spins 4.3 times to turn the wheels once
4.10 takes 4.10 revs to turn the wheels.
Check the ID plates on the pumpkins,
and or spin the wheels, and count the prop revs.
