745 fuel door bump stops 700 1990

My 745 had the fuel filler door hinge broken. I got a new hinge from FCP and installed it, but when I closed the door, I noticed two things. One, it closed with a loud metal clank, and two, it did not sit straight in the pocket. The side with the notch was visibly deeper than the hinge side.

I rooted around the garage and came up with a length of 7/32 vacuum hose.

Grabbing the trusty razor blade, I sliced off two pieces approximately an inch long. I then put them on the little round protrusions on the fuel door and trimmed them a bit at a time until it sat flush. The door doesn't hit the body metal any more and closes with a slight thump.

This is what it looks like:

    Question 700 1990

You mentioned you ordered the hinge from FCP - I just got off the phone with them and was trying to order the hinge for my 740 wagon - any idea what part number you had or how they had it listed? Neither I nor their sales desk can find it.

    Thanks!
