fuel tank 140-160

I am taking my fuel tank out on '73 142E. Anyone know how to remove the in-tank filter after removing the plug and draining the tank? Also there is a second square bolt off to the side on the bottom of the tank but I don't know what it is for??

The big plug has the 'sock' filter inside,it should pull out.
The small plug is the drain.

When I removed the big plug, the brass plug came out but the plastic sleeve stayed in the tank. Does that mean that I've broken it apart? Thanks
Jim

I was able to remove the fuel tank from the car with only moderate difficulty. the filter had stuck to the pipe inside the fuel tank and a few twists got it off. It was completely clogged and there was at least a full cup of rust/sand in the tank. Off to the fuel tank repair place now. Found a new in-tank filter, fuel filter and fuel pump isolators at Voluparts in Atlanta. Thanks for the help.
