steering box 120-130

Hi Guys,
I'm back to work on the two year project. I'm looking for a replacement steering box for 1967 122. I've watched several of them sell on ebay over the last year but didn't think there was anything wrong with mine.

Car is completely stripped, engine is done but not installed, transmission rebuilt, front suspension rebuilt etc. etc. Hope to paint in 2 weeks and then start assembly, if I can remember where it all goes.

Thanks for any tips on a steering box.

Mike in Minnesota

The box does not appear to be rebuildable. The 2 foot long shaft coming from the steering wheel into the box has a worm gear that is machined onto the shaft. The worm gear is missing a small section and one of the bearing surfaces is heavily pitted. I need a different shaft to make it rebuildable or a different box to rebuild.

Can anyone point me in the right direction
thanks MIKE

Joe Lazenby at Susquahanna Spares - lots of 122 spare (used) parts:

717-921-2644 or 717-249-0565

Good luck!

How bad is your steering box? You should be able to get it rebuilt I'd imagine, I've always noticed some play at either end once you have it out. Is that what you're talking about? I have one but it's my only spare so I'd rather hold on to it.

I dunno about Minnesota but here in Seattle, you can get your steering box rebuilt. A much nicer option for what it's worth.
