something wasn't right (a warning) 200

I logged in and looked at how many posts that I posted so far. There were a lot of posts with my ID but I didn't think I ever posted them. So someone has been using (read stealing) my ID. Beware of that sysadmin. Thanks.

    Tom...
Twice, a week apart, I made posts only afterward to realize that I somehow got logged in as you. The second time, I logged out, then logged back in with my user name and password, and it logged me in as rsjones.

My computer automatically logs me in when I log in, and it's usually fine... but it seems to be a brickboard glitch. I reported it and Jarrod got back saying they are looking into it...

I hope you don't mind the content of the posts I made in your name... absolutely didn't realize it, and I assure you... I do not know or have access to your password.. it's just an internal glitch with the website software...

Best is just to be sure you are logged in as yourself before posting...

    Best,

I'll add.. I did check both times after logging out, then back in as myself... and you were online at the time.. both times. So maybe I logged in at the exact time you did or something...

I don't know. For the most part, computers are a mystery. Especially a complex forum software such as what is used here...

This happened to me and at least one other BBer that I know of recently. I don't think anyone is being devious, it seeks to be a software glitch. Report it to Jarrod so he can deal with it. I noticed some of my posts were logged in as another user even though I had logged in with my own name and password. Dan

Exactly. This site has a "report trouble" feature which, if anyone would ever bother to use it instead of bitching in the forums, would lead to corrective action by the site owner.

Email was sent to report the problem, no answer or fix yet.

FYI: before I logged in to reply to your post, I wathed my ID was green as logged in ( but I wasn't). Cookies deleted, cach clear, temp. files clear, password changed. I did all those, and it didn't help a bit.

Anyway, unitl the problem got fixed, this is the last post, the last time I logged in, I will logged out as soon as I finish this post.

Nothing Evil Going on here! 200

This is not malicious (most likely), bet the other user did not realize what happened. Change your password right away. Hit the logout button when you leave the BB is the other preventative measure, but not 100% sure that will prevent it from happening every time.

I just ended up posting as Punk245 without even noticing until I went to edit a post. Found it harder to get back to my ID that just logging off and then back in. If you save a password and use that for automatic login is the first part of the puzzle. There is a cookie in your browser used by the BB to log in a user. And like already said when you edit a post, and if someone does not logout (or maybe even editing a post at the same time) you can pick up that account info in your record and have no idea it happened. When you log back in that info logs you in with the saved users ID which is not yours now. Posted a couple of things before seeing the problem.

I had the problem in Firefox, tried Explorer and that logged me in under my ID. The cookie in Explorer was still mine not punks. I normally use Firefox posting to the BB, the spell checker is better, and need that feature.

The way you have to fix it is to delete the Cache and cookies in the browser. Then you log back in with your name and password and your account will be back in the record and you are back to being you.

As a user how to avoid having it happen to you is to use the Logout button when you leave the BB. And like already said if you see it is happening post a note in that chain to let the other user know. Then change your password right away.

      Regards,

      Paul
