Ok at the moment I have a 245 but I was wondering if there is another good site to find used 122 wagons other then ipd. Any help or direction would be great.

Finding a Wagon for Sale 120-130

Hello,

There is a wagon listed on IPD and the same one is on Craigslist in Santa Barbara, Calif. I do not know the seller, but I spoke with him on the phone and he sent me addtional photos of the car and answered all my questions.
Good luck.

You can try the websites of local Volvo clubs - there is a classified section. For example the Puget Sound Volvo Club (State of Washington) or the Southern California Volvo Club. I found my wagon on the British Columbia (Canada) Volvo Club website.

Rob,

I'm in the Houston area as well (that makes about three of us old Volvo nuts I know of so far). Through diligent craigslist searching, I managed to find two wagons (one in Austin, the other in spring branch) within the course of a year. A nice set of wagons are for sale in Dallas, but you would need an engine rebuild and probably a good amount of work. The guy wants $1500 for the white one in better shape. A little high if you ask me, but I doubt he will get that kind of money for a non running Volvo in Texas.

Take a look here - http://dallas.craigslist.org/pts/656051913.html

Shoot me an email off list and ill be sure to pass anything I come across your way.

I used a craigslist search engine called crazedlist to generate RSS feeds (text based updates) for old Volvos in the southwest to pop up on my radar with the click of a button in my RSS feed reader. If anyone is interested in how to make that happen, I will gladly make a write up. It makes my addiction more time efficient.

I would be interested in how you generate a RSS.

Paul,

I use Firefox, so I found an RSS reader called Wizz RSS that integrates into the browser and creates a toolbar for itself (i reduced mine to a single button through preferences).

Go to www.crazedlist.org and type in your search criteria, select what cities you want to search, select "sale/wanted" and instead of clicking "search", look to the right and click the "Get RSS Feeds". This will take you to a page where you can right click a link and do a save as.

The next step is where you have to pay attention. You want to have your file name end with a .OPML extension. It will by default name your file "index.cgi" - change that to something like "Volvo122.opml".

The next step is to import that OPML file into your feed reader.

Here are the steps that are involved for Wizz RSS:

On your Wizz RSS toolbar there will be an icon that looks like a pad of paper with a pen on it. Click that and look for the field "OPML import". Choose "import from file" and find that OPML file you just saved off craigslist.

That feed will now show up in your news reader. When you click that, it will run though all the craigslists and put your results in a nice condensed format.

Let me know if this helps,

Tyler

I highly recommend Craigslist. Or use Crazedlist to search Craigslist in larger regions. My research from last Fall proved that Craigslist offered 122 wagons in far greater volume than any other site. I searched like crazy all over the Net and eventually bought from 3,000 miles away through Craigslist. Paid $900 for shipping and I am very happy with my purchase.

Not sure where you are located, but Joe Lazenby at Susquahanna Spares (Carlisle, PA) usually has a few 122s (including wagons) in various stages of completion/refurbishing. He doesn't have a web site, but he will send pictures of his currect cars.

I found my 1967 122S wagon through the IPD site. I've also had luck with the BB classifieds, and local craigslist listings. In fact, I've bought a volvo from each of those sources and have sold two cars through craigslist.

There's a craigslist search engine called "Crazed List" that will search everywhere you specify.
