BOSCH 13957 O2 SENSOR 700

Hey good afternoon everyone. Cool, drizzly day up here in CT, more of the same tomorrow - though it looks more like rain. Perfect weather for changing an O2 sensor out in the driveway, right? :)

Before I get too far into the job, I want to make sure I've picked up the right one for this car. #13957.

'87 760 Turbo Wagon, or, '87 B230FT if you'd prefer...

AutoZone (ugh) listed the Bosch 13957 as the correct sensor, but the "Oxygen sensor replacements" list here on the BB shows 13913, -42 and -53 as the three correct options for my vehicle and shows the 13957 as correct direct replacement for the '91-'93 940T only.

http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineSensorOxygenReplacements.htm

Before I install this $133.00+ sensor, is it or is it not the correct one for this engine?

I'm not sure where else to look, and I'm somewhat leery of just how accurate the program is there at AZ - especially when it conflicts with what I see here.

Anyone have an idea on this?

Thanks!

If you don't mind splicing wires...

    -(From the FAQ)----

    Replacement: Use of Generic Sensors.
[Editor] You can install a generic Bosch or other three-wire heated sensor instead of the more expensive Volvo OEM sensor in Bosch LH systems, but you will have to splice in the connector. The separate FAQ File on sensor replacements shows some wire length and splice information. Bosch model numbers 13953, 13942, and 13913 are reputed to work depending on your year and engine (same sensor listed as for Ford 5.0 V8 Mustang engine but different harness lengths: check the Bosch site for applications and see the FAQ File on sensor replacements). If you have a Regina-equipped car, use a sensor specifically engineered for Regina systems.

    -------------------

If you go that route, the three sensors listed are the same sensor, different cable lengths and connectors, which you would be cutting off anyway. I did this for my car a year+ ago, $40 vs. $100 and it's worked fine for me...

    -EDIT-

oops, I mis-read your post, I see you already read that section. The three numbers you found are the ones from the mustang, they will work but again you'll have to splice the wires. Its not too bad, just make sure if you do that you get heat shrink butt connectors and a good crimp tool. Harbor freight has the tool for $6, I'm not sure of the quality of this particular tool, but I've had the best luck with that type of crimper. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=36411
    Also the connectors.

Haha yeah, I have my own share of problems navigating all the different sites... :)

As it turns out, the 13957 sensor is plug and play! Thanks for all the info though, I sure appreciate everyones help.

Thanks for the idea, FCP seems like a great resource.

There's an AZ right around the corner on my way home so it was a no-brainer for me to stop by when I decided to replace it on a whim.

Personally, I can't stand the place. I don't think I've ever left there feeling glad I'd stopped in.
