Where can I find find SU carburator parts, other than Volvo dealers? 200 1982

I need to replace the fuel jet and meetering needle on my SU-HIF6 carburator.

Originally this carburator was mounted on 1981 DL. Because the original 1982 Solex/Zenith 175CD was so difficult to adjust I switch to SU.

Now the fuel jet is adjusted all the way up and the engine seem to be running a little rich. I beleive these are the original parts and may have more than 300k miles of use. Fuel consumption is a little high, could be better with new parts I beleive.

Would like to find these parts at a decent price.

Any one still riding with SU carb technology? Am I the last dynosaur?

My Austin Healey Sprite runs rich because the jet won't seat properly on one of the carbs and the needle rests against the wall. The thing I love about the carbs is their simplicity though. If you don't have a jet centering tool, I highly suggest getting one (it's a little metal stud that mounts where the needle does and allows you to perfectly center the jet in relation to the way the dashpot piston falls down naturally.

Keeping the needle centered should help fuel economy. However, if you have the jet tightened all the way up, I imagine the jet itself is perhaps worn out.

    In addition there is ZTherapy
    http://www.ztherapy.com/

and Burlen Fuel systems (owner of SU)
    website problems?

The jet (brass?) rather than the needle (steel) could be worn. The jet looks simple, might even be manufacturable in a machine shop.

I bought a rebuild kit from Burlen a while back. Import fees. O-rings, gaskets and such could probably be found off-the-shelf. Could email you rebuild instructions, if you like.

This is from RECENT THREAD HERE

I know Joe Curto from MG days in the '70s. Rhys is a Volvo independent mechanic who posts here and rebuilds SUs too.

    Hello,

I don't have an answer, but you might try the older RWD forums (140-160, 1800, 540). The people there are still using carb's and could give you some info.
