So I went and looked at this car. I won't be purchasing because it does not have PS, but SOMEONE on here should as a restoration project.
Exterior: Straight body, no evidence of an accident that I could see. Rust free as far as I can tell. Looks GREAT - really classic looking. The car has been painted over it's original "rusty-red" color with a deep green. The paint job is probably a 7/10, as they didn't paint the engine compartment or the door sills, but it looks good otherwise.
Undercarriage: Very clean, no rust. Newer exhaust system (appears to be OEM too).
Motor/Trans: probably could use a new clutch and clutch adjustment, but it drives as is. The shifter is pretty worn out and the reverse gate is stuck open so you can easily go into reverse. New bushings and reverse gate/spring assembly would fix. It has a 4 speed manual. The motor started up a little rough for a minute and then settled to a smooth idle. She said she hadn't driven the car regularly in a while, which could be a culprit. The motor sounded OK but a little rattly, probably could use a top end rebuild. The odometer does not work. The car has AC but I did not test it. Previously mentioned maintenance has been performed and she has receipts (timing belt, etc).
Interior: Worn but easily restoreable. Dash cracked in 2 places.
Based on the fact that it is a rust free CA car and the body is in great shape, I would have offered her about $900-1000 if I were to restore it. I hope someone on here grabs the car and restores it, as it really has a lot of potential. I would love to, but I need a daily driver, so the search goes on for an 80's 240!
