Shifter locks-it's not the solenoid or microswitch 900

The shifter in my 94 940T is locking out of park and also into 'R'-only the 'Shiftlock Override' button (or pushing down on a plastic plate inside the housing to the left of the shaft smoetimes) enables me to drive. This all started Monday night and after I fruitlessly removed the solenoid it has continued.Any advice before I pull that shifter out again?

Did you check to make sure the transmission mount is not worn or broken? One test would be excessive movement while coming to a quick stop, but I think you would really have to get under the car to make sure it is still in good shape.

You can also check the FAQ for more info.

Altough my trans mount is a little loose, it's not the likely culprit. This happened suddenly and all the gears are still reliably selected-it's just the lever's locking that is out of whack. While I was under there I replaced a disappeared bushing on the lever that goes into the trans-much more solid action now.
