I'm looking for a wagon for my niece and think a 740 with a sunroof might suit her. Are there known problems with Volvo 740 sunroofs that we might like to know about? Most of my experience is with older 240s, and I'd like to find one of those for her. Any preferences either way?

On my old 740, the sunroof motor needed an overhaul as it stopped working. It was a pretty straight forward fix and is documented in the FAQ (as are most sunroof problems) - http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/BodySunroof.htm

The most sure fire way to have a problem free sunroof is to swap in a manual crank in place of the electric motor.
