erratic idle 900 1996

help with this query from England, please
I have a 960 3ltr 96 model estate that I had converted to LPG year 2000
After the conversion the engine, on start up, had initial erratic idle revs until I hit 1500RPM when the LPG kicked in or I rev'ed the engine on petrol and it would be ok. This was the case with the engine hot' or `cold.' and appeared to be caused by the computer not knowing what it should be doing. (the auto mechanics that did the conversion said there was no fault in the conversion.)
Things changed a couple of days ago the engine became more erratic and did not respond to any throttle position for quite some time, even stalling on occasions before settling down in either petrol of LPG mode, but at the next start the same again.
This morning I plugged in the code finder, started the engine, it ran perfect on idle revs "no Fault " indicated on the code finder thus leaving me with the perfect running car but wondering what the problem was as I don't believe for one minute it won't reapear.
any suggestions threaders? other than leaving the code finder coupled in perminently
Thanks for any imput
Paul-C

Thanks for the response, poolman, I changed the inlet gasket approx 12 months ago following a problem with a blown gasket.
If I remember correctly it was you who advised me at that time.

The model you have uses a red intake gasket--it was updated to a green one which seals much better--I would try to make the switch and you should be ok.

as well ongoing most eratic idle issues i have found can be retraced to vacum leaks or clogs somewhere.

ie: flametrap issues for split hoses or blocked ones
the brass nipple on the intake manifold the tiny flametrap hose seats on

have you really gone over every relevant vacuum hose/connection/fitting?
