Looking for a B20 120-130

Hello. I'm looking for a tight, strong, B20 long block (or greater) that I can drop into and run in my '65 wagon. I'm thinking of low mileage (less than 50k miles) or recently rebuilt.

Anyone have one or know of one available?

I'm looking for a real good one, and I'll pay a fair price.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Deluxe

My parts car has a b20 engine that seem to run well and has a over bore and hoter cam. I do not need it and its for sale . I am in Rochester NY. The previous owner said about 30,000 miles on it. Come hear it run help take it out . $200. It has a weber and IPD alumim valve cover so those pcs are worth what I want.

    Looking for a B20 120-130

Hey, All. I'm in Annapolis, MD. My budget for a long block is $1,500. I know of a few cores right here in my town, but I wasn't interested in rebuilding. Now I may be interested in rebuilding if I can do it for under $1,500. That $1,500 would have to include pistons, rings, cam, cam bearings, crank bearing, rod bearings, etc. I would want the block bored, and necessary work done to crank and rod journals and all that stuff.

Anyonw know of steps that can be ommitted in a B20 rebuild that may save money?
I thought the bottom end of these things are super tough (meaning maybe I wouldn't have to do anything to the bottom end except replace the bearings)

I had several grand put aside for a top shelf performance rebuild (Phil S.), but my finances took a big turn and now I'm down to much less.

I'll buy a nice used B20 longblock or do a cheap rebuild.

    Any more thoughts?

Don't omit anything on a rebuild and expect good performance. Expect new pistons and re bore. new cam, new oil pump etc.

I have a short block here that I will probably never use. It s a second string spare for my SCCA race car. New rings on a recently rebuild engine. Ballanced. .015 over bore. It has never been run scene re ringed with Hastings rings.

I don't have a suitable head with low compression to go with it. I may have some more stuff to go with it.

I'm in silver spring MD Let me know if you are interested.

I remembered that I have some carborated B20B heads. You would have to buy a few bits and have the head rebuilt but I have what you are looking for.

They pop up from time to time on e-bay (in fact there was a rebuilt B20 head up as late as last night). It isn't that hard to find them kicking around junk yards with lots of miles (there is a '75 245 with a B20 in one of the local scrap yards here - 175K miles). It seems that some parts of Canada/USA have one every few feet (mostly west) while the east has none. You may have to pay for shipping, but don't pay more than $200 for a rebuildable core long block.

It took me a while to find the B20 that I'm working on, but they are inexpensive to have rebuilt. So unless you are pressed for time, I'd look for a rebuildable core and do the rebuild locally or yourself.

As Craig said, there are a few more out here... I have a few kicking around at the moment (mileage unknown) and I would love to get rid of a least one of them. I don't know that it's worth shipping a block to the east coast... Maybe I will list a whole one up on ebay and see what happens...
