93 940 AC question: symptoms are 900

the AC does not work
the compressor does not come on
the compressor clutch with the engine off turns by hand freely

1. the system is pressurised to specs
2. with ac ON and the low pressure switch cable shorted with a paper clip the compressor will still NOT run even for second
3. there is power to the hot wire of the compressor

............
am i looking at a defective control board in back of the dash heater/ac control switches?


tips and tricks anyone

I JUST EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY 94 940 HAD 12 VOLTS ON COMPRESSOR LEAD. BUT NO COMPESSOR RESPOND, PUT 12 VOLTS OF RAW BATTERY ON LEAD IT ACTIVIATED COMPRESSOR. TOOK IT TO MY VOLVO TECH HE SAID THAT THE CLIMATE CONTOL BOAD WAS NOT PUT OUT ENOUGH AMPS. NEW BOARD WORKS FINE NOW. VERY EXPENSIVE

If you have power to the ac clutch,the control unit and pressure switch are working. Try grounding the compressor to the battery with a jumper wire.If it starts,the ground strap is broken.
