I was looking under the hood of my 91 740 Turbo and saw that it was made in Belgium! I thought that Volvos were made in Sweden? Is this normal?

    For a while they made them in Canada too-- my '92 was made in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

    More accurately, it was assembled in Canada-- the parts for these cars are made all over the place.

    A lot of Volvos are made in Belgium. They have been since the 70s. I've had two Belgian 740s, and could not find any difference between them and the Swedish cars.

    I've also seen 240s assembled in Canada, and the Bertone coupes (262C, 780) were assembled in Italy.
