85 240ti AW71 To 93 940ti AW71 200

About a month ago I swapped out my 85 240ti AW71 that wouldn't shift into reverse with a 93 940ti AW71. The trans. is working fine but I notice that this trans. seems to shift faster then the orignal trans shifted.I double checked the kickdown cable to make shore it's adjusted correct but it still seems to shift faster when I start off at a steady RPM. Is there any difference in those years? Thanks in advance Charlie

I don't know how many miles you had on the original transmission, but there are some plastic check balls in the valve body of the transmission that will, when worn make the shift much harder, and often will allow the engine to rev further before shifting, which makes the shifts even more harsh (especially the 1-2 shift). I suspect that your new transmission has far less wear and thus is more like it should have been when new.

The original trans. had about 220K on it and yes it shifted harder. The replacment trans. had 64k on it.I am getting used to the shifting now and it's real great to have reverse again.I also was lucky finding a 93 240 in the local U-Pull that had black leather seats, dash board, carpet and door pannels all for $125.I had been lookin for over 2 yrs. for tan leather but everything I came across was rotted or cracked or someone wanted way to much $$$$$.I guess you can tell I plan on keeping her until I can,t find anymore parts or we run out of fuel. It should not be too noticeable between years. Tighten the cable a little to get later shifts.
