What year did they get better?

I know that around 85, they could be quite bad. Have a friend looking at an 89 245.

    Wow, a lot of opinions! My 88 sedan was 6/88 production and had a solid harness. I think they made the change some time mid-year '88. Prior to 88 is definitely the biodegradable type though.

      I've always heard the '88 model year was the first to see the upgrade, I think all '88s are good, but who really knows?

        I have always heard the same, all of '88, so I'm tempted to agree. I did once pull an AC compressor from a 10/87 car that had a rotted harness. That's the only thing confusing me.

    The biodegradable harness ended, I believe, with the '86 model year. I can say with certainty that '88 and newer years had OK harnesses.

    Were repaired in '88 I believe. '89 is safe.
