I used Rustoleum glossy Regal Red, but First primed it with rustoleum rusty metal primer. I used spray paint, but it also comes in regular paint cans so you can brush it on. When I searched the forums, it seemed like this paint and primer is what a few people used and liked. It seems pretty close to the stock red. The color dried a teensy bit darker and looks a little better in person.

That is what I usually use and have been pretty happy with it.
I guess the worst I can say is that it doesn't get very hard until it has
been hot. Standing out in the hot sun for a day or two may be enough.

Agreed. I'll have to push it back outside when it gets sunny again. Or maybe hit it with the hair dryer for a bit.

If you do it on a bare block, light bulbs in the cylinders work pretty well.

I got a halogen work light that gets pretty dang hot. Maybe I'll put that next to it for a while in the garage.

Beware the Evil Halogen! This could get so hot that it may cause your paint to blister.

No doubt. This light does get really hot. I'll put it at a safe distance.

Thanks Larry. I was leaning towards painting some of the parts black so it's not a big ball of red. I guess bone stock would have been pretty much all red??
