Used volvo question

I have a 1990 Volvo 740 GL right now, I've had it for about 3.5 years and I'm thinking about getting a slightly newer/better condition one. I've always done my own work on the volvo (new waterpump/belts/struts/timing) and I love the fact that it's an easy car to work on. My question is to all of you other volvo owners, what cars do you have that are easy to work on? I want something a little newer but just as easy to work on and have a strong engine/transmission (220k+ on mine)

I've seen some 94' 840's that I like... but I don't know.

Thanks, George

Personal opinion being stated...

Stay with Volvo RWD equipped with 4 cylinder engines like yours. They made them until 1995 in the form of 940's.

The 850 series is front wheel drive and a different breed of cat. Not as shade tree mechanic friendly as the above mentioned.

Thank you I wasn't aware about the 940's having the same engine until 94. That's a big selling point for me.
