Broken shift linkage?? Car undriveable... 200 1990

Greetings Fellow Brickheads :)

Hopefully, someone has encountered this problem and can easily answer my question since the 240 is down (but not out!). AW70 tranny.

The other day I was driving and I went to put the car in Park and suddenly the gear shifter moved freely with the car staying in neutral.

Could this be a broken bushing or perhaps something else in the linkage? I haven't had a chance to look under the car yet, but I plan on checking it out tomorrow.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds as if the clip came off the linkage, and allowed the shaft to fall out.
