Update and additional problem, Brake booster change.... 900

Just realized today i also do not have brake lights along with not being able to get it out of park unless i use the shift interlock push button on the shifter base..... Removed the brake light switch and opened it up, switch looks fine inside,Nothing broken, corroded etc.... checked all related fuses and they are all fine... All tail lights are working except the brake lights, and every thing else on the car works except the shift interlock and brake lights... All i did was change the booster with another and this problem reared its ugly head,,,,,HELP, what else would be involved with this problem... Checked FAQs and there is no reference whatsoever to a similar situation...Any and all help greatly appreciated...... Thanks, Tom 27940aholic

Sounds to me like the pedal will no longer travel far enough down to actuate the switch or the interlock. Did you order a new booster, or get one from a boneyard? Did it all go together easy? I did mine a while back and it seemed pretty straight forward. Did you take the pedal assembly apart as well? Are you quite sure you put it back the way it was originally? Can you activate the lights just actuating the switch by itself? More info would be helpful. If all else fails, put the old one back in and see if the problem still exists. If not, then perhaps something is awry with the new one.

The brake light failure may also be caused by the lamp out relay. If the cruise control also fails, then that's your problem. The shift interlock fails due to the microswitch inside the shifter, described in the FAQ in the Tranny section, or the brake swithc circuit. However, given the unique coincidence with the booster replacement, I suspect your brake switch is not adjusted or working correctly.
