Has any one taken their volvos to a sear's service center or a pep boys center to name a few for simple procedures such as oil changes, radiator flushes or transmission flushes and what were the results.

I can just imagine one of those grease monkeys tightening the oil drain plug with a great big 1" wrench.

I wouldn't do it unless I could be right there to supervise.
