cup holders 900 1993

Hello,

I know, big dilemma...

What are the options for cup holders that people have tried for the 940/740? Is the volvo center console cup holder arm rest good? Or is it flimsy and breaks easily? Anyone happy with their aftermarket solutions?

Thanks,
Steve

I got an 850 center arm rest and cupholder assembly on ebay. The seller had cleverly screwed the bottom mounting plate of a 700-900 series arm rest to the bottom of the 850 unit so that it could be used in those cars. The benefit is that an 850 arm rest in good condition has relatively nice cup holders but the trade off is that the arm rest is a little wider and does not have rear cup holders like some of the 700-900 have. I think that this adaptation can easily be reproduced without much trouble.

Failing that I also use the stainless volvo coffee mugs with rubber grips and I gently wedge them in the map pocket.

    Mike

Decent, but not ideal, solution I came up with for my 1993 945 was to get some of those cheap plastic cup holders that go on the door via a tab that slides into the window slot. They come in packs of two or four for under $5. I slide the tab into the seam between the AT shifter surround and the plastic console. The holder then keeps the beverage by my right knee or the passenger's left knee. Seems to work with 32oz Nalgene bottles and travel coffee mugs with lids. Fairly unbobtrusive and doesn't interfere with any controls.
