My 960 has the 3 memory seat for the driver and standard power for the passenger.
Symptoms: Passenger seat does nothing as if it's not getting power. Driver seat functions all work EXCEPT the forward/backward adjustment that brings the seat closer to or farther from the wheel. It tries to move but acts like it's jammed. IOW - it moves just a micron then stops in either direction. So it appears that electrically - the drivers seat is ok.
I've got electronic access to the factory service manual and printed out the sections related to the power seats. Holy-mother-of-god! It's over 1 inch of paper double sided...Who would have thought there was that much complication with a pair of power seats. From the looks of it - they have their own computer and diagnostic systems. I read that a jammed button will stop all functions of a seat so I checked the passenger side and found all outwardly OK.
So my question is - Does anyone have any tips on what to look for? I know to disable the SIPS system so i won't be killed...Has anyone had similar problems with these seats that can offer advice or cautions?

Hello! I have a 96 also, and I had the same issue. I shimmed the ends of the drive cables, and resoldered the relays, so no more issues. Also, I lubed the tracks with synthetic grease I got from Volvo. It would be appreciated if you could send me a PDF of the manual, as I have no access to one. The manual I have access is for a fleet management system and it's set up specifically to make it hard to get a complete hard copy. I can print a section to my PDF-writer printer though. If you have a certain section of interest I could likely oblige. I know how it is to REALLY need the info found in the real manual :)
