i recently bought a used volvo 940 glt wagon. it came with a b234f dohc 16v engine and automatic tranny. the cylinder head got damaged and i've been advised to change to the b230f engine.will the gear box math up. thanks

    you're going to need more than the b230. those and b234s do not share as much as you think. ALL the brackets for mounts, alt., etc. are different. the wiring and ecus are different. i KNOW the kickdown cable to the trans is different. you're gonna need a donor car, hopefully running when totaled in the rear. good luck, chuck.

    Dear achman,

    May this find You well. If you have a choice of B230F engines, try to get one from a 1993-95 car. The reason: after the 1992 model year, B230F engines have "oil squirters", which cool the under-side of the pistons. This is a useful upgrade.
