rough idle on start up 900

hi,92 960 24v. runs lumpy as though on 5 for first 10/15 secs then runs great. checked coils. ok. idle air control?

    How are those spark plugs. Using any coolant?

      havn't checked plugs yet, waiting for a plug socket. using some coolant, i think i know where your coming from.head gasket?

    Dear george,

    May this find you well. I think you're right. When you clean the idle air control valve, be sure to keep solvent out of the motor compartment. You can do that by keeping the nose - the end opposite the electrical connector - pointed down-wards. You can use cotton-tip swabs to remove carbon. Be sure to flush away any cotton fibers, as they will jam the valve.

      i cleaned the iac with wd40. meby i should clean it again with solvent.

        I think, the Idle valve is not likeley to be the problem. Normaly the idle valve ether works or it does not. To clean it does very little or nothing. I would check for a vacum leak. MAF sensor. Coolant temperature sensor. If your car has a EGR, check it. Also the control unit for that.
