Finally found one... 140-160

After searching for some months, I finally found a 1972 142E in SF that I am picking up next week. A good deal...some issues to fix before I drive it back to the desert..motor and tranny mounts and a frozen rear caliper piston on one side to start.

I have posted on another board about finding a mechanic in San Francisco or the East Bay...no luck so far.

Any ideas out there? I'd rather have a recommendation than a cold call to a mechanic out of town.

Thanks...and looking forward to sharing some pics and experiences on this board...a really great resource

Chris

Call Rusty at RPR in Albany (510) 524-7200.
He can probably furnish a caliper and also should know whom to call to install
it (or free the stuck one).
My guess is that it is as much a "check-valve" hose as the caliper.
That's very common on the 140/164s as their brake lines were VERY small and likely to swell shut.

I sure can't help you personally, but... there are a few well recommended Volvo shops in the area at the Car Talk mechanic files. See:

Just type in the zip code and choose Volvo from the list...

Thank you for that...those are great references...

If I can get it to Berkeley sucessfully, then I'll get to RPR as well to do some part shopping.

      You guys are the best.

      Chris
