pre heat hose - - 205/60/15 tires 200

i went to a volvo garage and they only do volvos. the woman , who i think owns it, said that 205/60/15 would rub on my 240 sedan when turning sharp .miata says its a 2% difference and to stay within 3 %. i have already purchased my tires which are that size and kumho ecsta platinum lx. im just waiting for it to warm up some so i can clean the used wheels i purchased.great just what i wanted to hear. i dont know if shes right , as i also stated about my pre heat hose being detached and they reattached it , very easy, but she said you can get rid of it without plugging the hole, which on here everyone seems to cover the hole then, what do you think?

They'll fit easily as long as you don't have some weird aftermarket wheel .... 200

205/60-15 tires will fit easily on your car - they're only 10 millimeters (or 1/3 inch) wider than the 240 Turbo's standard 195/60-15 tires and just a few millimeters taller, and these are designed to fit any 240 perfectly.

But that assumes that you're using Volvo wheels with the right offset (20mm from a Turbo 240, or =25 if from a 700/900 car). If you're using some weird non-Volvo wheel with a crazy offset, it might rub.
You can read the offset on the wheel, where it is stamped "ET=20" or some other number.

You will be fine with the tire size, I've had 225/60/15's(on Virgos)on both an 84 sedan & 86 wagon with no rubbing at full lock.

it seems as though when i say something about the tires or the hose , she feels like she needs to say something that they wont fit, or that the hose can be detached but not to cover it. I think she knows I know what I am talking about and she doesnt like it.

I doubt if you'll have clearance problems with the 205-60-15's. Those are only one size larger than the tires that came on the 240 Turbo model. If they should rub there are folks out there with the proper equipment to "roll" the wheelwell opening to gain clearance. It may be possible to rub on the bottom of the front spring perch but that would require a way oversize tire. -- Dave

I didn't cover the hole. The hole that will be exposed is on the outside of the Filter so that additional Cold air will be filtered before it gets to the engine. The only thought would be to keep the Critters out of the Filter Box.

If you have smog tests in your area, you will not be allowed to pass without the preheat hose. Just put it on prior to the test and then take it off.

Take out the T-stat from the air box and tape/zip tie the flap to bring in front air
