Our bumpers are made of 100 % stainless steel grade 304 thickness 1.5mm and hand polished with shiny surface, high mirror polish, just like chrome and never rust. This 'sounds' good, but has anyone used them? I am a victim of a $2400 scam, and altho I will need bumpers for the 544 in the future----??????

I e-mailed them and have already received a quote of $400 delivered to the US for a 445/544 front bumper (5 pieces). It may be too good to be true, but for "only" $400, it might be worth the gamble. Anyone want to dare me to go for it, if for no other reason than to be able to report back on my experience?

Scandcar lists them for $541.27, plus shipping. No idea if they come from the same source, or if they are the same quality - could be. I agree, if you need bumpers, for $400 it's probably worth taking a chance.

Can you mount the over-ride bars to them? I guess being SS you can drill them without worrying about the chrome flaking.

Is 1.5 mm a little on the thin side for bumpers?

I've been thinking of getting a set of these bumpers too. The person that sells them on e-bay has gotten a lot of good reviews too.

I glanced at the reviews that these people had on ebay and people seemed very happy with these bumpers. It appears that they are shipped directly from Viet Nam.

I questioned one guy in England that had bought the 544 model bumpers and I attached his note below.

I'm still thinking about them...... Maybe a big Christmas gift for me....

Response from the ebay purchaser:

They seem a good product straight out of the box, and I'm certainly not
disappointed. Haven't actually fitted them yet cos my '65 Red Ex L.A. 544 Sport project is taking it's own sweet time !

Only detail point I've noted is that the overrider pressing is a subtly crisper radius than the original chrome steel where it folds, but you'd need to have them side by side to pick it up. Could even be that the original steel bumper tooling got slack.

What I would say is that the chrome on the available reissue chromed steel ones is IMHO not of the quality you would expect of Volvo, with latent pinholes.

So given the cost saving of the Harrington bumpers over the Chrome reproduction ones...

If I was you and there's a bunch of you involved I'd ask Harrington for an overrider sample just to check that and the quality and then try for a group discount price Buy .

Requests were made a while back from here in the UK to have the overriders available seperately. They said that wasn't possible. Pity, as they would have sold well. I have an Amazon set, not yet fitted, and they look very good. The SS is a bit thinner than the original steel and that tends to make the pressing a bit crisper. They also weigh less than the originals. Finish is good.
My set came direct from Viet Nam as part of a mixed model group buy arranged through Harringtons. A good saving but a bit of a nightmare for the guy who organised it.
