544 Sport Clean-up, lots of pics 444-544

We have just completed some tidying up and paint repair work on our 544 Sport. Here are some random images.
I know some of you have asked for pictures of our twin shock set-up, some images included below.

Our project is now nearing completion, just waiting for the VPD Street Performance Kit with ceramic header and intake manifold which was ordered 17 months ago...

Seventeen months for an engine? John needs to step up the pace, it seems. Admittedly, I don't know any details.

Waiting for my parts 444-544

Not much to say, payment of USD2675 made on 29 November 2007.
After many e-mails and phone calls still waiting... I'm from South Africa, so not much else I can do.

JJ;

Very, very, NICE!

2 Qs: Are you using the factory left side alt mount or your own fabrication?
Where does hose from oil trap go to atmosphere?...I see a plugged oil filler cap, which normally would supply filtered air to crankcase...

...you must be chomping at the bit to drive and show it...

Cheers

Thanks for the nice words gents.

The factory alternator bracket broke, now using our own home fabricated bracket.

The filler cap is not plugged, that stub piece visible on the cap is a breather.

Best wishes,
J.J.

One other question. And this may lead to my immigrating.

Do you really not need a heater - ever - in your part of the world?

Suppo,

We do need heaters, however, our winters are not as bad as yours though.
We are not actively looking for a heater, but if we do come across one and the price is right, we might consider installing one.

BTW, Red Erik is one of my favourite PV's by a long way, the car looks stunning!

Cheers,
J.J.

Wow!

I am looking at buying a beat up p544 sport in WI, USA, and I have to say that these pics are making me drool with envy! Absolutely beautiful restoration!

Wow, wow, wow.

Great job!

I hope I can get to a similarly beatiful result in about 5 years!

Hi JJ,

Fantastic build on your sport indeed. I'm in Cape Town SA and I'm also looking at the VPD street performance kit. Have you eventually received all the bits and what were the shipping costs? My p1800 is looking for a high performance engine and the VPD engine looks very good indeed.

Blitz,

Thanks for the nice words!

Regarding VPD, I'd rather reply off the board...
