power window out of track 700

My driver side power window came out of the track. I followed the FAQ procedure and put it back in the tracks.
I reconnected the scissor pins (plastic rings are shot).
The problem is that the window falls down all the way to the bottom of the door.
The gear segment does not engage right.
Am I forgetting something or is something else broke?

I found that the connection between the scissors and the motor bracket came loose. This is an spline that is originally rivetted(?) in place. Hard to fix it seems.
BTW: What is the spiral spring doing? getting more tight when the window opens?
