I need a drivers door for a 92 240 sedan.I need to know if the outside trim around the doors'window is the same on an 80 as on a 92.I think the 80s' version has the moulding on the top edge as opposed to the trim tape,yes? but is the window trim the same?All flat black.

The '80 door won't have the extra door seal (fuzzy rubber around the outside of the window frame).

The window sweeper is different depending on the rear view mirror. If I remember right the 92 one is shorter. They can be easily swapped. The older door will not have the holes in the bottom of the door for the lower plastic trim on the 92. You can just cut the tabs off the trim.

I wouldn't reject the door because of the lower trim. It is stuck on with 2 sided tape. The holes are not necessary to put the trim on. The holes are only a problem if you are trying to put a newer door on an older car that does not have the lower trim.

The biggest problem is the black trim tape on the top of the door. The later 240s have much wider tape than the earlier cars. You can't swap that, so you would either need to find new tape or use black paint.

I have found that the earlier cars have chrome trim around the windows and a moulding on the door "shoulder" while the newer cars have the black window trim and black tape.To make things easier on the re-paint I will wait until I find a newer door with black window trim and the black painted tape.Thanks.

I believe you'll find the thickness of the door trim at the "spear" different between the 2 cars.
