This One Is Breaking My Heart

I had a lady buy a 1990 Volvo 240 from me about 6 months ago. It was in beautiful shape. No paint fade (a rarity in Atlanta)... perfect interior... you get the idea.

Two weeks later she calls me up and relays the first step towards a painful death. She had taken it to one of those cheap ass Firestone places and they proceed to tell her that it needs a tune-up. Several hundreds of dollars later the car isn't right. In fact, it won't stay running. It gets towed to a mechanic and he finds the culprit in two months. A loose battery cable. Shumcks!

Then... the real disaster struck. She had another mechanic, not the one I told her to get her work done at, mess around with it. Apparently one of the headlight bulbs went out. He puts the wrong wires and fuses together, for reasons beyond my comprehension and blamo! Good buy computer. Welcome electrical issues. She then has it towed to my mechanic who doesn't believe it's worth fixing at this point.

So folks, we officially have a perfect 1990 240 with no rust and no paint fade that will now be a beautiful parts donor for a lot of aficionados. Either that or I personally take on the task of tracking down electrical issues that may never be found... which I don't have the time to do.

Anyone in Atlanta have the time or inclination? I'm open to selling, paying, donating, whatever would work.

Bummer. It kinda sounds like you still have a financial interest in the car - I hope not.

Maybe someone like Voluparts would give you a little cash for it and pay for the towing to boot.

Not really. I'm just annoyed over the fact that this car was maintained well for 18 years and they managed to completely destroy it in six months.

I sold a 1991 Suburban Diesel that had been maintained to the 9's for a discount because the fellow who came from Tennessee already had an 82' and knew how to take care of it. I wished this Volvo had met a similar type of owner.
