Thermostat 200 1993

I am getting ready to replace the thermostat in my 93 240 as the temp gauge reads halfway between 0 and the white mark in the middle of the guage. The air is blowing warm and not hot.

It there a gasket for this procedure as I dont seem to see one currently on the car.

Thanks,
Frank

There's no gasket for the housing-to-head joint. There is a rubber gasket that fits around the thermostat itself (there's a groove all the way around the inside of the gasket, so it slips right on and stays put) which acts as a three-way seal between thermostat, head, and housing. It should come with the new thermostat.

If the housing shows signs of pitting and corrosion around the mating surface, get a new housing. Aftermarket ones are about $15 from FCP Groton, the real one from Tasca was about $25 IIRC.

      Hi:

There are several brands of T stats out there but the OEM mfgr is Wahler of Germany and you can buy the Wahler brand T-stat in 3 different deg C/F ratings depending where you live (winter/summer mid)

These T Stats are the best and I would not buy anything but Wahler.

Flush the system with Prestone rad cleaner run hot and flush with water run hot and then refill with 50/50 mix, Make sure you run the heater full on when flushing and cleaning our is clean water.

      good luck
