Adjusting AC Expansion Valve 200 1985

I read a few posts about adjusting the expansion valve but don't understand 1.what part of the valve you blow into. 2.To tighten is it cw or ccw? 3.Is there a correct # of turns for the allen screw? Thanks for any help.Charlie

Think that is the heater valve they are talking about. 200 1985

If you are talking about the AC expansion valve, there is no adjustment. You replace it with a new one, they are cheap! They get clogged up with goo over time, the failure mode is found when you check your AC pressures. You start to add some more of the coolant and the pressure suddenly soars. Blowing it out with air might buy a little time, but in the end you will end up replacing it to get the AC to work right.

What I think you are thinking about is the heater valve with does have a small adjustment. Most of the time folks find that the heater is on all the time and want that to stop.

Hope this helps,

Paul

hello
you can adjust the expansion valve.
it must be removed from the a.c. lines and there is a allen screw or simular inside the valve, my friend backs off about 1/4 turn when converting to 134
did this to my old two forty turbo with no ill effects.
i am not 100% sure if he backs off or turns in the screw.
good luck
Mike
