replacing oil pressure switch 200 1984

So, my baby has sprung a small oil leak. I was told by a lifetime Volvo driver that it looks like it's coming from the oil pressure switch. That's cool, because it looks like a cheap fix. Do I have to drain the oil to replace this?

No, just make sure the car isn't running while you change it (DUH)! The switch also has a tapered pipe thread so sealant is not needed on the thread.

You will need a deep six point socket to extract the sending unit, and they are inexpensive. Watch the connector, the wiring can get crumbled and i was never able to find one except by clipping one off at the PUP.

Make sure it's not a leak from the oil filter. Sometimes the old seal off a filter can stay behind and your new filter will not seal. My neighbor just replaced a leaking filter on his truck, and this was a factory part. They do leak sometimes and the oil sort of goes all over the place.

Regards,

Paul
