I have a 1992 244 with about 150k miles on it. It needs a new water pump, and since the radiator is orginal, I think I might replace it, too. I know the three-row all metal Nissens radiators are no longer available. Is the plastic/metal Nissens radiator now sold by FCPG etc. any good? What about the radiator I might buy from my local Autozone? Thanks!

I had an original style plastic Niessens on our '93 for three years until the car was totaled. It worked fine and I had no issues with it in those three years.

I just found this website that has the Nissens 3 row radiator for a 1984 245. I'ts www.drivewire.com. The price is lower than I paid a few years ago so I'm wondering if it's a mis-print. You could always call them. Good Luck!

When did they stop making the Nissens 3 row heavy duty radiator? I bought one a couple of years ago with no problems.

I have the OEM style Nissens. I replaced my Original after 250K miles. I was getting a whisper of antifreeze smell but no leaks when I swapped it. It's been maybe 3-4 years now with no issues. The first thing I did was spray the top and bottom Flat black to quiet down the bare aluminum color.

I put in the OEM-style Nissens about 5 years ago, and it works just fine - even out here in the AZ desert. That tells me the Volvo guys were not off on an extended aquavit break when they spec'd the rad. Pretty good for guys up by the Arctic Circle.

Nissens supplies to the industry, so ask your local car parts pimp who their supplier is - might be Nissens.

I used one of the Nissens plastic rads in July. I liked the fact it came with a temp switch with threaded insert instead of the rubber plug for the feature my 240 does not need. No dislikes, except that I'm used to the black frame on the Valeo "Blackstones" instead of the shiny aluminum. But it has only been 4 months.
