Car won't start 200 1985

Is there a troubleshooting guide on this website to go through for a car that won't start? My 85 wagon started and ran real rough for about 30 seconds this a.m. and then stalled. It would not start after that. I know I need to check spark and fuel, however a guide would be a big help.

Thanks

Start with the common easy to check stuff first. Spark? fuel?
If yes disconnect the electrical connector to the AMM (key off). If it starts and idles fine the AMM is bad.

If no spark or fuel check the fuses for the 2 fuel pumps and the 25 amp fuse by the battery. Fuses need to be clean with tight contact. 25 amp fuse, check the connection at the battery and spade lugs for corrosion.

Fuel system relay under the glove box, it should click twice as you turn the key to start. If not replace it and keep a known good spare in the glove box for future troubleshooting and use.

    Try here: http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EnginePerformanceSymptoms.htm

Look up in the RH corner for the dropdown and go to the 700/900 FAQ.

Remove the oil filler cap on the valve cover, look down the hole at the camshaft and have someone else crank the starter. As the engine turns over, does the camshaft rotate? If not, the timing belt broke and needs replaced. If that is the case, you are lucky that the 85 is a non-interference engine so only a belt would be needed!

ps. don't forget to check the TB tensioner bearing for wear, noise, and slop if the belt is broken.
