Got the old cylinder head off. I need to carefully clean up the head gasket surface on the top of the block. However I am very concerned about all, or some, of the crap I remove falling into the cylinders. My idea was stuff the cylinders and lifter/cam holes with very clean and lint free rags. clean carefully. Then vacuum everything really well.
What is the boards 2 cents worth??

Pretty much what I have done. Not too critical with the rags though.
I have taken some 2Cycle oil and wiped the Cylinder walls with it then bunched up a bunch of rags and stuffed the cylinders. Most of the crap that falls down the cylinder sticks to the oil. easier to wipe clean. and the rags just keep the rest from getting down by the rings

Should work fine.
I have also held the running vacuum in one hand and scraped with the other. That's probably overkill though.

I did the rag AND vacuum thing - THAT'S overkill ;-)
