Heater Core replacement, 93 940T 900

I am looking at the purchase of a 93 940 turbo wagon. Apparently the heater core is on its way south. Is the replacement of this item as onerous as it is in the 240? I have done a couple of those, and don't wish to repeat the performance.
THanks
JD

    Heater Core replacement, 93 940T 900

As John said you get better at it. I've done 3. Make sure you use DISTILLED water. Some stores in Ottawa, Canada sell deionized (metal eating)water instead of distilled. Brickboard informed me of my mistake which I quickly fixed.

What I did on my last heater core was find an all metal replacement & have a rad shop really go to town building up the edges where each of mine cores failed. I'll know if this works in about 3-4 years. Some of the replacement cores are aluminum/plastic. Everyone has a different opionion on what is best.

I'd rather change a heater core than the head I had to pull to fix a broken stud.

    good luck

    Heater Core replacement, 93 940T 900

I've replaced four heater cores in the 700/900 series, and I am about to do my fifth. I will probably spend about six hours on this project. For your first 700/900 heater core, you'd better plan on twice that, or more.

I did some searching in the FAQs and I see they are saying to put aside 12-20 hours for the job. I remember the first 240 core took me about 12 hours and the nest one only took half that. I guess the 940 will be the same.

I bought the 1994 940T I'm driving for $1000. It needed a heater core. The previous owner had been quoted $1500 for a new heater core, installed. He was glad to sell the car for $1000, and I was glad to buy it.

I just paid $136 for a new heater core to install in my wife's 1993 940T. I'll install it next week.
