1990 244 NA No start 200 1990

I just picked up a 1990 244dl.

It seems that its not getting fuel or a spark, I haven't played with it much yet. the tow truck will be picking it up either this afternoon or early Monday.

It's been a few years since having a Volvo. Can you all offer some tips to refresh my memories on where I should start? How to work the OBDII and the codes.
How to check the pumps etc?

Thanks in advance

~Dan D

Fuel pump relay and fuses including the 25 amp on the fender near the battery Would be a good place to start. Make sure fuses are good and free of corrosion including the connection at the battery for the 25 amp fuse.

I check the 25 amp fuse(after the trouble i had with one before)and it was good. I tapped on the fp relay but nada.

The PO said it was running fine then he shut it off went in the house for an hour or so(in 70 degree weather) and came out to the no start condition.

I noticed it had a newer coil, and the fp relay was replaced in 2005.

BTW I only paid $250 for it so I'm more than happy to have to do some digging in this car to find the issues lol

Solved 200 1990

After getting the battery charged, I turned the key and noticed the gas gauge was below the reserve line. I though it was something else I would have to fix.

For the heck of it I dropped a gallon in the tank, turns out that "I don't know why it quit" translates into "I ran it out of gas". It runs fine, abet loud.

I need to replace the tailpipe from the muffler to the back.
