I can't believe my motor mounts only lasted 230k 200 1989

went to change the oil today and the filter was sitting on the mount bracket. I checked the other side and it too was sheared off.
I ordered a pair from FCP and my car awaits up on jacks until they arrive( tomorrow I hope).
I am pretty sure they are the original mounts ! they must have just gone this week because when I open the hood for routine checks I slide my fingers between the oil filter and mount.
I thought about taking a used pair off my parts car until the new ones arrived but thought it through and it is such a messy job I don't want to do it twice.

This is a good spot for genuine Volvo parts. I am afraid what FCP is selling these days won't last very long.

Based on what I've read I agree, I too would only use Volvo OEM mounts.

Hey, how about 300k on my mounts (to the best of my knowledge) and still going.... Why would I use anything else when the originals last this long!

I got "lucky" with a set on my 83. I went into Canadian Tire on an unrelated errand, and when I started the car in their lot, SPLOOSH. Cheapest tow I ever had. 2 techs pushing, and me behind the wheel. ;>

Let me know how that goes! I'm set to do mine this weekend and any advice while it's fresh in your mind would be appreciated!

Pretty much all you need to know is right here at Dave Shannon's site:

      http://volvo2.homestead.com/240mount.html

Those ratcheting box wrenches do make everything easier.

And he's not lying about doing the oil change at the same time. The oil filter will be in your way.
