you don't need to buy a reader, the diagnostic box under the hood has everything you need. See http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineOBDCodes.htm

check the FAQ. 940's & 240's don't come with OBD2, there isn't a reader you can purchase. you have to jump a wire from one port to another and record the led flashes.
