93 940 wagon....head rests on front seats ....is there any adjustment ? 900

Hi, The head rest seems jut too far forward and consequently tweaks my neck. I do not have a manual for the 940 series. Any help..ideas...or just the way it is?....Kris

This is curious; I have a 93 940 and I think the headrests are too far Back. I want them about 1/2" forward.
There is no adjustment. I was thinking of making one, or taking the headrest out and bending the mounts slightly. I got a spare at PnP to check this out with but have not done it yet. It may take cutting the mount partway through, welding it back together, and changing the slit where the catch goes.

OK..this is curious!...but how do the head rests come out? is there a release hidden behind the back of the seat cover like the 240's....and would a 240 head rest fit in there...?

Yes, they have the same hidden release buttons on the back. The closed padded headreasts for the 940 and later 740 cars are interchangeable with the open-style headrests used on the 1986 and later 240. The un-padded headrests come slightly less far forward than the padded ones, but it is barely noticeable.

To get headrests that come a little farther forward than the standard 940 ones, install the open-style rest with the clip-in optional pads that were sold for the 240 and earlier 740. I've seen them in tan, black, and blue vinyl, and in charcoal cloth.

John's right, and that reminds me of when I spent a good part of a day at the yard just for this, I was going back and forth between several cars that had the same interiors as mine. I sat in, swapped headrests in, and measured all I could find. I found that the face of the 7 headrest with insert is in the same plane as the 9 headrest. So this means that a 7 withOut the insert may be just what the OP needs.
The 9 seats are harder to find the button; it's in line with the posts, and just below the 2-3" wide seat frame, where it is hard and dips in to the panel in the back. You have to push it a Long ways to release. It can seem like you're going to push a hole in the fabric.
