Hi,

I'm looking to replace a quarter panel from a 245 '82. Will any years of the 245 production will fit as a replacement??

thanks,

Sébas

Rear quarter panel or front fender?

If the rear, then there are three styles. 1: 1975-1979 / 2: 1980-1985 / 3 1986-1993. Only difference between 2 and 3 would be small holes near the bottom of 3 for mounting the plastic trim. Never having removed the trim from the rear quarter panel, I'm assuming these holes are there, since they are present in every other panel on the car--someone who has had to restick that piece of trim can confirm/deny their existence. If they're not, then 1980-1993 should all interchange.

Rustproofing improved on later cars. It is worth getting one from the 90's if you can. In the junkyards here in VA, the 1988 and earlier cars almost always have rust, the 1989-1993 cars very rarely do.

Hi john,

thanks for your answer. I was comparing my '81 and 93 and it looks very the same. When talking about quarter panel, I'm talking about the sheet metal welded in the rear opening of the rear door going all the way back to the back lights of the station wagon. This include the wheel arch. I know the rear tub (for spare tire)is sold separatly. For the holes for the lower body trim I don't care since they will be patched since I don't use the plastic trim cause it cause more rust than protection!

Good idea for the later version, I will look for that. I noticed that sheet metal was thickier in the final years ('86 +).

Sébas,

No,

Anything after '85 will not fit your car. The turn signal cutouts are different.

I'm not sure about '75-79, but any '80-85 242, 244, 245 should serve as a donor.

Jesse,

I'm might be stupid but I think you are talking about the front fenders, do you?? I new the difference in the front end change up of the 240 but never new about the 'back' difference. I want to be sure if the rear quarter panel are the same from '80 to ' 93. Except for the shape of the glass of the tailgate, even the tailgate itself of a 1993 could fit in a '81 I think so....

Thanks,

Sebas
