Hi Folks,

Need a bit of help here. I pulled the dash clusterfrom the 740T and sent it off to VA for Speedometer repair. Came back in a few days repaired!

Let me set the stage for the question. The dash trim ring was of the type that is held in with spring clips, reached through the 2 little rectangles. from a few other things I noticed it may actually be a 900 series cluster. I'm thinking that the ring removal from the FAQ and the panel looked more like the 900's in the FAQ. In any case I have 1 connector with a purple white wire and a yellow green wire in it and I have 2 blade connectors near the large harness plug on the front left of the panel.

Anybody know which pin it goes on?

I can not speak to the specific wire colors, but I can tell you that the 1991 740 turbo cars have the same cluster surround that the 940 cars have. The 1991 and 1992 clusters are the same while the 1993 and 1994 are the same.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram they can share with me for the 940 style instrument cluster. I know where all the wires go but this 1 plug with 2 wires. The wire colors are yellow green and purple white. While viewing the back of the cluster there are two blades just above and to the left of the big harness plug.

Two questions
1. Which blade does it go on?

2. Does anybody know of a quick source for a wiring diagram of the 940 cluster or what the wire colors mean.

Hi folks,

The answer is that the plug goes on the blade on the passenger side of the plug. the wiring has to dowithe the cruise control! My thanks to Steve over in the 900 side who looked it up for me just in time to finish putting thr cluster in!

All this was to fix the speedometer, which worked fine!

Another set of Praise goes to Southern Electronics of Richmond VA who had it rebuilt and back to me in a couple of days.
