Have a common problem with both my Amazons (67 and 68) and my 1800ES (73). None of them have working door lock keys. I've got a locksmith locally who can cut me the key, but he doesn't have the blanks to start them from. Anyone have a reliable source for door key blanks this far back?

88 740ti 260k and counting....

I have an original door key for my '68 220. One side says "UNION" and "MADE IN ENGLAND". The other side says "WILMOT" and "BREEDEN". Never seen a UNION blank though.

I also have replacements from my '70 145 and '72 144 that look very similar excepting the longitudial groove. This blank is only lettered on one side. It says "ilco" and "MADE IN CANADA" and "F7OS". I would guess that the F7OS is the blank number. I also think the ilco keys are easy to come by.

Guys;

Union is the original British manufacturer...for a 122 it's usually a UN16 blank...


...but for an 1800 or 140 it may also be a UN18

Ilco are American replacements...these should be available from any locksmith.

find a better locksmith. My guy had the blanks and also mentioned there was a common house lock blank that could be used.

Haven't looked for door blanks, but ignition blanks are usually available on ebay. Good luck.

When I walked in with keys to be made for a '68 Amazon; and two '66 1800's, the guy walked over to a wall of keys, cut them and said, "check 'em, if they don't work, bring 'em back." They all worked just fine! Nice people to do business with, too.

I think the locks are "Union"--in which case you might want to try a Victoria British catalog. -- Dave
